Piano With Wind and Trains (2010) is a feature-length documentary that captures a week in the life of Sgt. Justin Echols, an Oklahoma City police officer who moonlights as a jazz pianist and vocalist. Echols, who began playing the piano just three years prior, has transformed what began as therapy for his bad back into an incredible rise to notoriety in the local jazz community – much to the amazement of his friends and family. But the road to becoming a star is sometimes paved in irony: His first recorded album waits for him in a box behind a Dumpster. An upcoming gig at a nearby farmers market will serve as the litmus test for whether or not his CD will sell.
